Liberation story
The Exodus of Joaquin
The nuclear holocaust on Korhal by the Confederacy had the effect of causing widespread unrest in the Terran worlds. It took only one of the many regional governors on Tarsonis to gather similarly minded dissidents and spur them to action. This man, named Joaquin Gavre, chose to, rather than commit those who had joined their voices of dissent with him to further bloodshed, had them leave the sector entirely. Several thousand people abandoned the Confederacy that day to follow Joaquin back to Earth, where he hoped the sins of their fathers who had been brought to the Koprulu sector wouldn't rest on their shoulders.
Sevron and the UED
The journey took an unexpected pause when the exiles found an uninhabited world outside of the Koprulu sector. Intending to stop for a year to rebuild food and supplies, the exiles became attached to this new world, resource rich, mostly lush and ideal. Joaquin then decided that permanent settlement was a better idea rather than a lengthy and very risky return to Earth. That day, the Sevron Republic was founded, the name now given to the planet taken from Joaquin's former governing province on Tarsonis. While the Sevronians rejoiced at their new Confederate free life, little did they realise the old regime they had fled from had disintegrated. The Dominion came to power and the Zerg grew to strength in the sector. And, many lightyears away, the UED was planning to take the reins of the Koprulu sector for the betterment of humanity. Directly between Earth and Koprulu, in the direct path of the UED fleet's intended course to the wartorn sector, was Sevron.
Out Of the Frying Pan
Some months before the arrival of the UED fleet in the Koprulu sector, the staff of the Aleksander flagship who weren't in cryo sleep had a rude encounter with Sevron. Identified as an offshoot of the Confederacy but mistaken as still having the same ideologies, the UED moved in. Joaquin surrended the planet peacefully, knowing full well Sevron had no chance whatsoever against the UED's mighty fleet.Three officers were left in charge of the planet while the UED pressed on to Koprulu. Ted Stillman, an idealistic texan colonel, Gavin Ochre, hot-headed and ham fisted, and the eccentric but brilliant Malachev Andrews. An ion cannon platform was built above orbit as a defensive measure should the battle in the Koprulu sector spill back to earth. The UED departed shortly after.
Into The Fire
Little did the UED realise that the last resort purpose of the cannon was to become reality. After Kerrigan devasted the UED at Char, they fled back towards Sevron in the hope of making a fortified stand. However, that did not happen. When the fleet arrived, news of the death of Admiral Stukov and DuGalle's sudden suicide sowed wide spread panic across the UED forces. The UED forces split apart into Splinter factions, named so for their rabid desire for survival irrespective of their former comrades. The Zerg too landed on Sevron and began to annihilate everything in their path, led by a Cerebrate loyal to Kerrigan named Erezad. Sevron seemed doomed as infighting threatened to consume the planet.
From The Ashes
Yet, a sudden change of events occured. The military loyal to Ted Stillman sprung Joaquin Gavre from prison and placed him back in his presidental seat. Stillman opposed the occupation from the start and sought to right the wrongs of the UED.With renewed vigor and both the original Sevronian militia and Stillman's loyal UED forces united, Joaquin announced the reforming of the Republic and the intention to stand their ground.
Civil war this is not though. Sinister forces manipulate the battles of all sides, and Sevron itself is watched by a certain Protoss Dark Templar with a vested interest.
